GOLD:
Markings to look for
10k - 417 14k - 585 18k - 750 21k - 875 22k - 916 24k - 999 Note: in some cases you may see a karat mark (ex. 10k) and in others a purity mark (417) but in some cases you may see both. Where: Many times you will find these markings on the clasp or lock of a necklace or bracelet. In rings you will often find these marks inside the band. Important: The karat stamp can be missing from an item and still be authentic so be sure to bring your items in and have one of our experts test them at no cost to you. We buy Gold:

SILVER:Markings to look for:
Sterling, 925, 800, 900 We buy silver:
Where: On jewelry you will find the hallmark on the clasp or lock of a necklace or bracelet. Rings will be stamped on the inside of the band. Silverware: forks, spoons and knives should be be stamped STERLING on the handles. Platters, tea sets and candle holders should be stamped STERLING on the bottom of the item, simply flip it upside down to check. American currency: Dollars, half dollars, quarters and dimes up to 1964 (1964 and older) are made of 90% silver Mexican coins: if you see a 900 or 720 on the coin than it is made from silver (90% and 72%) |
